Landmark Lawsuit Filed Against SEC to Protect Future Whistleblowers

November 13, 2020

John G. Stumpf

Financial Fraud

Defendants: John G. Stumpf

Former CEO and Chairman of Wells Fargo & Co. agreed to settle charges that he signed and certified statements filed with the Commission in 2015 and 2016 which he should have known were misleading. The statements concerned the Community Bank, Wells Fargo’s core business, in particular its cross-sell strategy. Respondent allegedly was on notice of false representations about the strategy’s performance and that reported metrics were inflated.
